Teachers

Marisa Zink, E-RYT 500

Marisa is passionate about teaching yoga and helping people practice yoga in a way that is appropriate for them.  Her classes are a blend of hatha vinyasa, honoring the traditional hatha yogic principles, and Forrest Yoga, rooted in ceremony for a deep, inspiring, and healing practice for physical and emotional resilience.

She has been studying yoga over the past fifteen years.  She is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists, IATY.  She learned traditional hatha yoga, the teachings of Krishnamacharya, from Mark Whitwell, and she completed the Moksha Yoga Teacher Training in Canada with Ted Grand, Jessica Robertson, Frank Jude Boccio, Dr. Laurier-Pierre Desjardins, and Michael Stone.  Marisa is also a student of Ana Forrest, and has completed the Forrest Yoga Teacher Training.

She was born and raised in Victoria, in Beautiful British Columbia, where her mother first introduced her to yoga as a young child.  Movement has always been a part of Marisa’s life as ceremony and healing.  At age three she began a study of classical ballet and then various other forms of dance for many years.  She was reintroduced to the practice of yoga during her performing arts years, and it has remained a big part of her life ever since.  With the death of her dear father, Marisa found clarity and courage to fully pursue a path of service in holistic health.

Marisa appreciates how we all come to yoga for different reasons and how yoga is an unfolding path.  Through asana practice, by remaining connected to breath and the natural flow of her thoughts, she is at peace, and can better accept life’s challenges as they arise, and best of all, enjoy the beauty and wonder of life.

Marisa is deeply grateful for life, for her loved ones, and for all her teachers.
