Frank Armijo
McCarroll started his martial arts training in 1991 under Detroit Karate legend Willie Adams. In 1995 McCarroll received a scholarship from the Japanese Ministry of Education, Monbusho, to attend Josai International University in Chiba, Japan. After graduating from Western Michigan University in 1996 he returned to Japan to work for the Ministry of Education as an English teacher at Hatoyama Senior High School in Saitama prefecture. After 3 years McCarroll returned to the United States and relocated to San Diego where he began teaching at The Institute For Effective Education (TIEE) in 2001. McCarroll was hired to start a Karate program at TIEE, a non-public special education school that specializes in improving behaviors for students with a wide range of disabilities. Since he started in 1991 McCarroll has actively continued his martial arts training and is currently pursuing a Masters degree from National University in Special Education. He holds black belt ranks in Isshin-ryu Karate (3rd degree), Shotokan Karate (2nd degree), Shorinji Kempo (2nd degree), and Judo (1st degree).
