Jeanie Carlstead is the Founder and Director of La Jolla Yoga Canter. Jeanie is not only a well-respected yoga teacher and mentor; she has also been an active part of the local yoga community for over twenty-five years. Jeanie and her husband Jeff are long-time residents of La Jolla, parents of four beautiful children, and newly empty-nesters.
Jeanie began teaching yoga so that she could share the same gift of peacefulness, health, and joy that she experienced. As a teacher, she saw such incredible shifts in people's lives that she wanted to extend this offering and have an even greater influence on the community that she loves. Out of this passion came the inspiration for the La Jolla Yoga Center.
In addition to her 22 years of yoga and study of mind-body disciplines, Jeanie holds degrees from UCSD in history and psychology (Magna Cum Laude). She specializes in understanding the process of transformation, heightened levels of consciousness, the experience of being fully alive, and the process of creating freedom. She is presently writing a book entitled, "The Everyday Wisdom of Yoga."
Jeanie created and continues to teach the Bishop's High School yoga and meditation program. Jeanie co-created and co-taught the Prana Yoga Vinyasa Teacher's Training and has now created a new Teacher Training. She continues to teach and influence many teachers with her grace-filled presence, skillful guidance, and depth of wisdom.
Jeanie was the recipient of San Diego Business Journal's, Total Excellence in Management award and a finalist in their Business Woman of the Year Award. She and her husband and partner in their hotel, Jeffrey, have received over 30 awards for their high levels of quality, service, and community outreach, including Hotel of the Decade.
Jeanie has always been committed to delivering the highest level of quality and service out of a deep respect and caring for people. Jeanie's 22 years of yoga, her background in guest service, event planning, and trainings, and her 25 years serving the community philanthropically make her well suited to bring this beautiful offering to San Diego.
